This week my bugs have been learning a bit about the different states of matter and their properties. We have been fortunate to experience some warmer temperatures these past few days (ie. above freezing)  so the boys have been able to observe snow melting into puddles of water, the puddles freezing overnight into slick, glimmering ice, and then melting into puddles of water again later in the day. It was M’s inquiry of where all the ice came from that sparked the idea for us to investigate the different states of matter.

We were browsing at our local farmer’s market last weekend, when I came across a vendor selling winter bird feeders in the shapes of stockings, wreaths, and other festive  motifs. They reminded me of the spring bird feeders M and I made over a year ago, and I thought to myself, I could totally make those! So, a few days later, we did :).

You’ve just collapsed your weary body onto the couch, snuggled yourself  up in a warm blanket, and are casually reaching for the remote, your wine, or perhaps a good book, when you suddenly remember….YOU. FORGOT. TO. MOVE. THE. ELF. This has been happening more often to me lately, especially this past week. Sometimes I come up with something fun or mischievous for the kids to catch Bob (our elf) doing, while other times I’m lucky to have moved him to a new location without getting caught!
