As my bugs and I were getting ready to decorate eggs for Easter, I embraced a teachable moment by asking them whether they thought eggs were strong or weak. With little hesitation, both M and B replied that eggs were definitely weak. They’ve helped me in the kitchen numerous times, and cracking eggs is by far their favourite culinary skill (other than tasting of course), so they thought my question was a bit bizarre. Of course they’re weak mom! New Year’s Tree
As I was taking down our Christmas decorations, I decided to keep our tree up a bit longer and have the bugs decorate it as a New Year’s tree. They stuffed the branches with noise makers, New Year’s Eve crowns and hats, feather boas, balloons filled with mini prizes, and all of the lovely Christmas cards we received from our friends and family.

A few days ago I create a Halloween sensory bin for my bugs using playdough as the star component. I followed the playdough recipe from here, and added some orange and mint scent to the orange and green playdough for an extra sensory element. I really like the texture this playdough recipe produces, and it lasts quite a long time if you keep it in an airtight container. I like to wrap mine in plastic wrap and then seal it inside of a ziplock bag.

Both of my bugs are REALLY into superheroes right now. M’s favourite superhero is Captain America, while B’s is the Hulk. My boys race around, in character, for a good chunk of the day, pretending to fight bad guys and smash stuff. Let’s just say my days are not boring… or quiet (*sigh*). Although it can be a bit overwhelming trying to reel them in when they are pretending to swing from spiderwebs while shopping at Costco, I can’t help but smile at their care-free, imaginative play.
