My bugs and I went to the library today and one of the books M chose was Sneezy the Snowman, by Maureen Wright. This is a really cute rhyming book about a snowman who just can’t seem to warm up. Sneezy tries many things to keep himself from shivering from the cold: drinking hot cocoa, soaking in a hot tub, even standing by a fire; but just as he starts to feel warm, Sneezy melts and the children have to rebuild him. Finally, the kids come up with a solution that allows Sneezy to stay warm without causing him to melt.

I really enjoy Halloween, not just because of all the sugary sweets, but because of the excitement of dressing up and the sense of community when we take our kids trick-or-treating around our neighbourhood. Once the cold weather hits, people like to go into hibernation, so it’s a great opportunity to visit with our neighbours!
