Fall has finally arrived, and so has the gorgeous colour palette that comes along with it! Fall is my favourite season, but sadly the beauty of fall does not last long, so we have to cherish it’s rich gold, ruby, copper and mustard hues while they’re still around. One fun way to keep the vibrancy of fall alive, even into the sombre months of winter, is to do leaf prints.

This past week M and I practiced the letter/sound correlation of the letter C. M has a tendency to pronounce the /c/ sound as /t/, so we focused on enunciating words that had /c/ as its initial, middle, or end sound. One of the many words we practiced was the word ‘cloud’, so I thought it would be fun to do some activities around clouds using two great books: Little Cloud, by Eric Carle, and It Looked Like Spilt Milk, by Charles G. Shaw.

M and I have been making a lot of trips to the public library. He really enjoys listening to the stories and songs at story-time, and then browsing the shelves for books to take home afterwards. M has always enjoyed books. Many times, when things get just a little TOO quiet, I can find M sprawled on the floor, or sitting in his room, flipping through books and trying to retell the story in his own words (it makes my heart sing every single time!). I hope his interest and love of books is just one of the things he carries with him for the rest of his long life.
