February has always been my favourite month: It has the shortest number of days, daylight seems to linger just a tiny bit longer, and the harsh grip of winter seems to ease up, reminding me that spring (and camping season) is just around the corner. What better month to celebrate the most intoxicating and uplifting feeling of all, LOVE, than in February?

So, in honour of heart month, my bugs made stained glass hearts to pep up our windows with some bright, cheery colours.

This craft was really easy and, best of all, both of my bugs were able to contribute and work on it together. All you need is Contact paper (self-adhesive shelf/drawer liner, which you can find at Home Depot), and tissue paper in different shades of pink and red.

First, I gave the boys some tissue paper to start ripping up into smaller pieces to be used for their ‘stained glass’ mosaic.

Then I cut a piece of Contact paper, peeled the paper away, and placed it in front of the boys, sticky side up, so they could start adding their tissue paper bits.

It’s good to leave some empty spots so you can adhere your hearts to the window without having to add extra tape.

When the boys were done sticking on the tissue paper pieces, I cut out as many hearts as I could from their mosaic using a heart template I had made from construction paper.

I think they turned out really pretty, and they definitely add an extra pop of colour to our kitchen view!

Happy heart month everyone!
