Since visiting the Spark Science Centre, I thought it would be a lot of fun for the boys to have their own light table to experiment with at home. It wasn’t until we were reorganizing our basement, and getting rid of some clear plastic tubs, that I was actually inspired to make one. I came up with a simple design and soon after, as I was congratulating myself on my clever ingenuity, I decided to Google ‘DIY Light Table’… my ego was instantly deflated. Evidently I was not the only one to come up with this brilliant plan, as you can see here, and here (just to highlight a couple). Haha! Oh well, it was still a HUGE hit with my little bugs 🙂

 Well, Hallowe’en is over, now what to do with our left over jack-o-lanterns? We could just wait for them to rot, leaving them outside until their moldy, ghastly carcasses freeze to the steps, and then throw them away once the stench becomes too unbearable as they begin to thaw… but that’s no fun! So why not use them as part of a classic science experiment instead? When I saw this post from Growing A Jeweled Rose on Pinterest, I knew I had to try it!

Slime!

This looks like a cup of spilled, green, oozing liquid but it’s actually solid to the touch… it’s SLIME! M and I put the slime into a glass and left the cup tipped on its side overnight to see what would happen. In the morning we peeled the slime off the parchment paper and it came out as one big chunk from the glass.
